Kanyakumari is lacated at southernmost tip  of indian peninsula and is famous among the heart of tourist for his incomparable geography . It is  a beautiful  place  covered by the three source; the arabian sea, indian ocean and bay of bengal.

actually we've have planned a trip of madurai-rameshwaram-kanyakumari,so after covering rameshwaram we move ahead to the edge of indian peninsula.

HOW TO REACH:

we reach kanyakumari from rameshwaram by train 12789/RMM CAPE EXP.
the distance is 407km and the journey is of  approx 7 hrs by train.the train departs from rmm junction at 8:45pm and arrives at kanyakumari in the early morning 04:20am .

well kanyakumari is easily  connected by major cities  of india via express train
one can easily find connectivity from delhi, mumbai, howrah, chennai, banglore, jammutawi and so on.

ACCOMODATION:

there are no. of hotel,rest-room and govt guest house for accomodation.

one of  accomodation can be Vivekanandapuram it offers clean - luxurious to affordable - accommodation at reasonable charges but the thing is that it is far from main  kanyakumari and you have to book the rooms and pay the charge through DD atleast 1-2 months before your trip.
sangam point

we opt Hotel CAPE just a half km outside railway station.the stay was nice and the important part is tourist points like temple, memorial, museum, church all are very near from hotel.

we reach kanyakumari early in  the morning and it was just awesome to feel the cool breeze with coffee in hands.

Sunrise point
sunrise point

the hotel manager suggests us to see sunrise and after fresh up we just ran with the camera towards the point bcoz we don't want to miss the sunrise

the unexpressable feelings come to see the large-small continous waves at the sangam point.
there was large crowd to see sunrise, hawkers selling set of photos, photographers requesting for quick photograph with vivekanand statue ,sun and sea.

as sun came out of clouds so many people do surya-namaskar ,some have clapped out, shouted ...see !!!see!!sun has come, after waiting us long as day was cloudy.

and then we've jumped from small to large chattans at the beach and spent hours in looking the waves.

Madurai : the temple town

We reach at one of the oldest city of Tamilnadu well known for the meenakshi temple "MADURAI" in the morning by train from banglore. There can be no. of medium to reach madurai but to me train is the most comfortable way to travel.
Bangalore (Karnataka) to Madurai (Tamil Nadu) is 466 km and takes approx 7hrs by road.

we opt tuticorin exp.(16732) which arrives madurai junction at 07:20am and departs at 09:20pm from banglore junction , best part to opt this train is that its  a 10 hr night journey so one can plan trip to madurai weekend Sat-Sunday holiday.

the madurai is situated on the bank of river vaigai which is full of water only at the festival time as per local resident.
outside the madurai junction, you find so many auto-ricshaws  who will take you to hotel,rest- room, guest house and be prepare to bargain otherwise you will be paying high.

the auto-ricshaws drivers are so opportunist , therefore be prepare with bookings of accomodations   if not then atleast have knowledge about 4-5 hotels.

we have our bookings in Birla Vishram which is situated just outside the temple premises.

Madurai usually has hot and dry climate,so the best time to visit is oct-feb,on an average city can be visited throughout the year as it has popular festival like CHITHIRAI FESTIVAL,AVANIMOOL,NAVARATHRI and FLOAT FESTIVAL celebrated throughout the year.

these are best tourist point in madurai one must visit-

meenakshi temple......grand pillars with beautiful archirecture
1.meenakshi amman temple
2 thirumalai nayak palace
3.gandhi museum
4.vandiyur mariamman teppakulam
5.alagar kovil
6.nupur ganga

these places can easily be covered in 1 day .

 MEENAKSHI TEMPLE

The temple complex is within a high-walled enclosure, at the core of which are the two sanctums for meenakshi and Sundareshwara, surrounded by a number of smaller shrines and grand pillared halls with beautiful architecture. Especially impressive are the 12 gopuras. The gopuras are towers rise from solid granite bases, and are covered with figures of dieties, mythical animals and monsters painted in vivid colours.it has 4 entrance gate and cameras are allowed inside after paying fees  decided by temple authority.
temple also has timings to visit as per 'pat khulne-band hone ka samay'

after darshan we were feeling hungry and move to MOHAN Bhojnalaya which was the best
food provider as per choice of north indian.the food was so tasty and particularly i like their serving style which feels you like home.

from there we come to know about cab service for city - darshan , the cab is one of the good choice for covering tourist spots .

alagar kovil is approx 20 km far from madurai at the foot of the range of hills called Alagarmalai and as you move towards that direction the temperature starts droping and the cool breeze will make you feel awesome.
nayaka palace
its quite fascinating to hear about ganga in south but its true, nupur ganga is the source of water from mountain and mytologically this water is used for doing 'abhishek of lord vishnu'

thirumalai nayak palace will be good for history and sculpture lovers. It can be visited from 9a.m  to 5 p.m on payment of the entrance fee.

after hangout here comes shopping time You can enjoy the colorful shops and spend time bargaining for your favorite items, they are  cotton fabrics and Batik and Sungundi Sarees, there are no. of shops near temple premises and you can buy handicrafts also,  you can get hand-woven silks and cottons, bell-metal lamps, bronze images, wood and stone carvings.

so make out plans and get ready to visit this beautiful city....................
