Holi "festival of colours in Shaan-e-Malwa"


'Holi' the festival of colors ,it also signify the the victory of good over bad.

people celebrate holi and play with colors and flower petals.
in this most fun filled festival 'bhaang' adds twist.

nowadays gulaal,abeer,herbal colors,flower petals are used to play 'sukhi holi' and 'tilak holi' for saving water.
this festival starts with holika-dahan a very interesting story of holika and prahlad is related with this ritual.women do worship and new crops are presented to god.



next day to holika dahan is holi when people enjoy , play ,tease others and end up at the note ' bura na mano holi hai ' 
holi is not a one day festival in indore it is played till rangpanchmi after 5 days of holi.
in indore a very special kind  of celebration is done on the day of rangpanchmi ,people in crowd enjoy this festival like tomatino festival .the tankers on roads shower water and gulaal on crowd it is known as GAIR .
rajwada (palace of holkar's) the heart of city is the main attraction point in celebration.





sweets like gujiya are specially made on holi ,bhaang ke pakode and lassi add to fun.
After a funfilled and exciting day, the evenings the spent in sobriety when people meet friends and relatives and exchange sweets and festive greetings.
